What is meant by Recovery?

The Transition Support project (see https://www.tspforall.com.au ) provides an excellent definition of what is meant by recovery in a mental health context. They define personal recovery as "about creating a meaningful and contributing life whilst living with, or recovering from, the impacts of mental health conditions. It acknowledges that recovery is:

• a unique and personal journey

• a normal human process

• an ongoing experience and different from an end point or cure

• a journey rarely taken alone

• nonlinear and interspersed with both achievements and setbacks." (TSPforall, 2020)

For more information, please check out the Transition Support fact sheet on Recovery and the NDIS.
